ThanksVegan Returns for 2023
After a three-year hiatus, Tampa’s ThanksVegan Potluck returned on Thanksgiving Day 2023. The announcement of its return was met with a combination of excitement and apprehension. Could we pull it off? Last time the event had taken place, in 2019, we had a huge list of volunteers and had plenty of donations. But this year, post-pandemic, businesses could longer donate as they did before, food and rental costs had risen, and many volunteers had moved on to other obligations. It was like we were starting over from scratch.
But never underestimate the power of a strong community. Our plant eating, animal loving community came together like never before to make it happen. Local favorites, Vegan International Co. and Uncle Mince’s World-Famous Seitan generously donated all the fresh sliced seitan to our event, Loving Hut Tampa donated all the mashed potatoes and gravy, and of course ThanksVegan wouldn’t be complete without the donation of Trevor’s chocolate pies. Between those Thanksgiving staples, other donations from the community, and the help of our small but mighty group of volunteers; Tampa’s ThanksVegan Potluck 2023 was a success!
