Event Company Peels Away From the Monkey-Exploiting ‘Banana Derby’ In a thoughtful response to PETA’s outreach, amusement event coordinator KevaWorks has pledged to no longer book the Banana Derby, a cruel traveling act that ties capuchin monkeys to the backs of running dogs. This victory is the latest evidence of the trail of disgust that the Banana Derby leaves year after year. In 2023, New York’s Suffolk County—where Banana Derby exhibits have been protested previously—enacted a traveling animal act ban that prevents this inherently cruel event from returning. For the sake of the capuchins involved, let’s keep the momentum going and the pressure on!
